The Independent Leeds Music Awards

On Saturday 7th January 2006 there will be a fine celebration of Leeds music. The Independent Leeds Music Awards 2005 will be held at The Northern Light, Leeds.

The aim of the night is to bring together all the hardworking music people in Leeds to celebrate and also raise the awareness of music in Leeds. ‘It will help to strengthen the sense of community across a range of genres, styles and approaches – commercial and non-commercial, mainstream and specialist.’

The night promises to be very special, presented by beatbox king and local lad Shlomo. Also on show are an eclectic mix of top notch Leeds talent. We will see great taster sets from the likes of Four Day Hombre, Send More Paramedics, Semi Squared, Kid Kanevil, That F**king Tank, Waking The Witch and the legendary Jon Gomm.

If that’s not enough to wet your appetite, we have the awards themselves. The awards are basically a scouring of the local scene to come together and highlight those who have impacted well in 2005 but also to ensure they merit and carry the torch of the other fantastic Leeds artists. ‘An Independent Leeds Music Award for each category will go to one of a group of Nominees, who will also be honoured on behalf of the community they come from.’

A night not to be missed, roll up, roll up and get your tickets at £5 in advance available now from Crash Records (0113 243 6743) and Jumbo Records (0113 245 5570) in Leeds City Centre.
