TISCALI FUND NEW CREATIVE TALENT THROUGH MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION

At the beginning of the year, Tiscali hosted a competition to give young directors an opportunity to create and direct their own music promo.

Launched at the Raindance Film Festival, Tiscali offered budding directors the opportunity to create a music video by giving them a £1500 budget.

Richard Ayers, portal director at Tiscali UK, says: “We were already
supporting new talent in music and independent film so it made perfect sense to introduce them to each other through the competition. We had high expectations and were not disappointed by the quality of entries.”

Short film and promo director Jacqueline Wright was a clear winner amongst a great selection of storyboards with her narrative-based pitch. With Wendy Bevan-Mogg on production duties, Jacqueline has directed the promo for The Shakes next single “Liberty Jones”. She says “This wouldn't have been possible without Tiscali's funding, Raindance's expertise and the invaluable generosity of animation company Tandem. Animation was a vital part of my pitch and Mike Bell and Nick Losse at Tandem made it possible for me to realise my vision”.

“When Tiscali got involved, it was amazing for us” said Ed, singer with
lively, new SE London band The Shakes. “Their support's helped us make something really good and to spread the word about our music. They're doing loads for new music right now, so it was great to be such a central part of that commitment. And it was cool making our first video – even if we do get killed in it.”

The Shakes single “Liberty Jones” is being released in October. Jacqueline Wright is moving into feature directing after her horror script was optioned by Kubista.
