Thee Neerly Men – Thee Neerly Men

Thee Neerly Men are from Preston and seem to be taking spoonfuls of sounds from a number of genres; country, rock and roll, indie – they have a dollop of them all.

Boomerang is true to its name – the lyrics seem to bounce back again and again, becoming a little repetitive. ‘If you go, you can’t come back’ – yes, we really do get the point. As for the vocals, I thought they were reminiscent of Killers front man, Brandon Flowers, thanks to that deep warbling tone. As the track progresses you almost want to grab someone and get into a jolly square dance, but toe-tapping your foot will easily suffice…

The more mellowed Boozin Days is like a short story and with blunt lines like ‘Don’t act like a moron and settle down’, the track certainly sounds like the pleas of a drunken man.
The pace picks up again with Good Lookin Tonight. This rockier track resonates a more mainstream indie vibe, successfully capturing the sound of the moment.
