Murray James – Murray James EP

Coming across like the unholy offspring of an ill-advised (and ill-conceived) attempt to cross breed James Morrison with Newton Faulkner, if this wasn’t bad enough, it’s highly likely that the sprog was then fostered and raised by James Blunt!!

And that is pretty much all you need to know in order to know anything about Murray James and his pedestrian music, of the five tracks on the EP there is little to distinguish one from the next as they all bland, sorry, blend together to form a rather unremarkable and un-memorable experience.

I don’t take any enjoyment in completely crushing the work of a 19 year old just starting out in the music industry but when the press blurb proudly proclaims that the majority of the tracks were co-written with people that have contributed their song writing ‘skills’ to the likes of Corinne Bailey Rae, Tina Turner,Celine Dion and, unsurprisingly, James Morrison, then it becomes unsettlingly easy to see the strings of the corporate puppet-masters at work.
