Uber Room – Looking Forward To Nothing

Considering Uber Room are XFM’s ‘Uploaded’ winners, this single fails to make much of an impression. Even just after listening it is hard to remember how it goes. However, to give credit where it is due that may seem a little harsh as it is not something that would make you want to turn the radio off/over at all. In fact it is not that there is anything wrong with the songs as they do make fairly good background music but just possibly need more ‘oomph’.

Third track ‘Clever Forever’ does seem to attempt this, and indeed has a very funky section but it is only 45 seconds before the end and is perhaps a style they should have applied in the rest of the track. Whilst the song is arguably catchy, the keyboard hook is also borderline annoying after a while. Nonetheless this is only their debut single, and depending on live ability as well as follow-up releases, hopefully Uber Room can prove themselves worthy winners as there is potential there…somewhere.
