Daniel Lanois – Here Is What Is

Bringing together some well known collaborators into Lanois’ well crafted piece which is essentially the soundtrack to his documentary of the same name.

A soothing but hardly an easy listen. There is a depth that requires closer attention than merely background listening. It is very apparent who this producer has worked with in the past. This time Lanois is branding his own music with his producers stamp and it is probably where it serves him best. U2 have and continue to use his skills, but this piece is by far more reaching than even their material allows.

There is a good combination of instrumental as well as vocalised music, and the odd kitsch spoken piece from the documentary itself.

The album itself as it may well be sold as a Sountrack and it may end up a collectors item. But one worth having.
