Enter Shikari – We Can Breathe In Space, They Just Don’t Want Us to Escape

Enter Shikari burst onto the UK music scene in 2006, with their debut ‘Take To The Skies’ receiving vast critical acclaim for its original fusion of post hardcore and trance music, a combination you would have previously said would have been very unlikely to have even been vaguely listenable let alone reach the top 5 of the UK album chart.

Credit to the band though because they incorporated a unique sense of melody and popiness to their grounded hardcore roots. Since then however things have been pretty quiet and hence there is a lot of pressure on this, their first since the last album. Rather than going straight for something new they have opted to re-work an old demo and unleash a much more polished version of ‘we can breathe in space…..’ to the public. The results are rather good, their very own endorsed sound is still very much there and they still sound as lively as ever, except now they seem to have matured and mastered their sound a little more, the choruses are twice as soaring, the trance beats now have an even greater sense of purpose and any sense of lacking coherence that was their on the first album has made way for a more progressive sound and all round unity.
