Disarmingly sincere, Richard Walter’s warbles lump-throated through this gently heartbreaking song from his LP The Animal. Walter’s stock in trade is starkly-arranged acoustic folk: fingerpicked guitar and vocals with little embellishment, which ups the intimacy and brings the songwriting to the fore, and he’s evidently a songwriter of some talent.
It’s the briefest sample of what Walters is about, weighing in just over two and a half minutes and feeling like a teaser trailer for the longer product, which promises to be worth a listen if “True Love…” is at all representative.
