Metronomy - Pip Paine
Album Review

Metronomy – Pip Paine

Why the band title isn’t monotony instead is a wonder as this highly repetitious artwork is akin to something that someone creates whilst striving hard and failing to find the right riffs and beats and hooks for their music – hammering them out time and time again until something eventually is born from the process.

This album seems more intent on being that process as opposed to the beauty that comes from the tedious process of creating through repetition.
Perhaps if the album were shaped much more a jazz session then it may have worked better. Here it is experimentation with very little in the way of results. But there is certainly quantity. Not content with 12 tracks of randomness they have also included 4 bonus tracks in this release this increasing the hit and miss factor over into the miss side of enjoyment.
