Scanners – Salvation

Hopefully this will help banish away the post-weekend blues. Scanners are releasing a double A side single ahead of their second UK album release.

Scanners are one of the most exciting and intriguing bands around at the moment and their new single shows the different sides of this London four piece rather beautifully. Salvation/Baby Blue are taken from their second album ‘Submarine’(released on 21st March).

Salvation is a dark affair with vocals that resonate through the track in a way that is not dissimilar to PJ Harvey. The lyrics are spine chilling with drums that crash at the points where they are at their darkest, all set of by a brooding, new wave bassline. If Salvation is looming in the Shadowy darkness, then Baby Blue is definitely basking in the lush sunlight. It is a beautiful song that builds and builds in to something rather magnificent.

It starts off at one point and before you know it you are transported somewhere completely different. Somewhere away from the grey and gloom of London (or wherever). It twinkles and glistens in all the right places and before you know it you are back where you started wondering what the hell just happened. Maybe press repeat?

Scanners debut album Violence is Golden went down a storm stateside with a performance on The Carson Daly Show as well as other prolific sync deals. But it’s this album that has really grabbed the attention of the Yanks with some household name TV dramas such as Gossip Girl and Hard Target using Salvation. You might have also heard previous single ‘Lowlife’ in the films Endgame and Mama’s boy.

The band are due to embark on a full UK tour this spring. Catch them at these dates:
