Dead Wolf Club – News At Ten

News At Ten is the new single from dark punk band Dead Wolf Club. It comes from their debut album, released to some good reviews earlier this year, and it’s an interesting song. Alternating between quieter sections that could be any number of indie bands and incendiary blasts of dark energy it rises and falls nicely.

It all makes sense when you read that the song is about a schizophrenic artist. The musical changes within the track serve to symbolise calm periods and psychotic episodes rather well. And there is some tremendously powerful guitar work in there to enjoy, as well as a powerful bass line and a great vocal performance.

B-side Headful of Horrors, about a dysfunctional relationship, is a powerful track with distorted vocals and intricate guitars that give way to feedback heavy riffs and pounding drums. It’s pure punk anger, channelled well, and sounds great played loud.

There are two other songs on the release: Go!!! (yes, three exclamation marks) is restrained in comparison to the other tracks, although the simple chorus is energetic, and Othello is fast paced and rhythmic, again with the odd quieter section.
