Desolation Yes To Release Album

Desolation Yes! are a Scottish / Slovakian band, who are currently based in Glasgow. They will release their new album Out of Orbit on March 4th.

Due to the use of synth, samplers and drum machines, the band’s sound can be defined as a genre of electronic music though which one is open to interpretation. They have been described as electro-rock, industrial, futurepop, ebm, techno, dance/rock and synthpop. The band themselves have declared a love of all genres of music and describe their music simply as ‘experimental’.

Things took off in 2008 when Desolation Yes! began working with Scottish independent record label Neon Tetra Records on their debut album, CyberNation. The band then released their debut double A-side single Templeton/Instinct, which the band wrote with Cosmic Rough Riders, followed by Future Pop from the CyberNation album. CyberNation was recorded at the legendary Chem19 studios with Andy Miller (Franz Ferdinand/Mogwai) and was mixed by Ian Carmichael (One Dove). It was officially released in 2010.

The band had extensive airplay on various radio stations such as XFM and Radio 1; a host of positive reviews in the media and were hailed as ‘Glasgow’s next big thing’. They also played with the likes of The Whip, Crystal Castles, Alec Empire, Howling Bells, NoMeansNo, Simian Mobile Disco, Jubilee, Mortiis and had a residency at Glasgow’s Blackfriars.

In 2011 Desolation Yes! began working on a new album, Out of Orbit, and in a return the band’s roots the decision was taken to self-produce. The album contains elements of theatre and performance art as well as structural and technical experiments in exploring the central theme of detachment through an on-going narrative. After an extensive recording and mixing period, Out of Orbit is to be released and heralds the next sequence in the band’s progression.

Desolation Yes! Are: Paul Elliott (vocals/synth/programming), Jagged (guitar/programming), Miro Cuba (drummer/percussionist/synth) and Shisho (bass)
