Rio 2 Soundtrack Review

Composer: John Powell

rio2John Powell isn’t a name worth dismissing in the realms of movie scores. He made his bones and worked his way up the food chain in the industry – and has a variety of works to his name that stand out strong.

He’s worked on an X-Men movie, He did the Jason Bourne movies, and he has an impressive line up of animated adventures to his name (Antz, Chicken Run, Shrek, Happy Feet, Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2, a couple of Ice Age movies, the How To Train Your Dragon movies and now the Rio series as well).

So it should come as no surprise with that back-catalogue that he has delivered the goods again. And we waste no time setting the scene to usher listeners in. And it isn’t with ease either. No instead he’s reworked the Fox anthem and given it the “Rio” makeover.

Naturally with a film full of such tropical settings and flavours, the music has been made the exemplify that. So if you like your soundtracks to sound like a street parade then look no further than here. And if there are youngsters in the family then there are a variety of uses this score could have with them as well.

For the grown-ups there is a finely orchestrated (and lengthy) score to enjoy.
