Watch Conservative US Pastor Have His Mind Blown By Finnish Heavy Metal Mass

Marty McLain from Douglasville, Georgia is a conservative pastor who took a recent trip to Scandinavia as part of a new documentary series called The Norden.

The Pastor, who describes his religious belief as deriving from a literal interpretation of the Bible, was given the opportunity to see how secular Scandinavia is on a visit to a heavy metal service in a church in Helsinki, Finland. As you can imagine, he wasn’t best pleased.

Pastor Haka Kekäläinen (pictured above) is the founder of Finland’s metal mass movement. To Kekäläinen, a special relationship exists between metal music and religious hymns. Pointing at his hymnal, he explained “You know, it contains some very cruel words. It fits with metal music.”

“The style of music’s fine, the presentation…you don’t want to draw attention to the wrong places” explains McLain following the service, clearly flabbergasted by the windmilling and headbanging “If I was pastoring I would have said something after service. Don’t move as much like that, make sure it’s God-honouring movement. That’s just my opinion.”

Watch him squirm in this video over the “suggestiveness” of the band:
