This Week’s New Music – 18.03.16

It’s Friday afternoon, you’ve got to the point where it’s only a matter of minutes before the door shuts behind you and the sweet glow of freedom fills your heart – what else are you going to do other than stuff your ears with all the best new music from the Glasswerk inbox this week?

As always we’ve pilfered all of the hottest new cuts from the mountains of breaking bands out there and compiled them into one easy-to-digest playlist. This week we’ve got new music from: Great Cynics, Papiere Tigre, We Are Scientists, St. Tropez, ISLE, New Carnival, Prism Tats, New York Movie, October Drift, Andy Shauf, The Night Cafe, Vangoffey, Beach Skulls and Circle of Reason.

If you’ve only got time for one, check out this lo-fi chilled punk offering from Glasswerk favourites Great Cynics who are currently on tour with Jeff Rosenstock. The track – ‘Beach Access’ – was reportedly a harder song to write than anything on their new record, as vocalist / guitarist Giles Bidder explains: “it took a while before it sounded right. It’s about feeling paralysed with anxiety, feeling disconnected with what’s around you. When you use up all your energy on being scared, you’re left with no energy to do what you know would make you feel fulfilled. The name is from a photo I took of Bob a few months ago, which is also the cover.”
