Young Guns – Shepherds Bush Empire, London

The night kicked off when Marmozets made their way to the sage, and brought with them ferocity and energy that is tough match. With songs like Onemanwolfpack, it is easy to see these guys are on the fast track to becoming the UK’s next big metal act. They were swiftly followed by Your Demise, another UK punk act with slight Offspring tendencies. Their latest album saw a change in direction for the band, but they were still able to bring their live show to life.

The main support act was US pop punkers We Are The In Crowd, who were clearly loved by the crowd. Their upbeat songs swept through the arena, while the audience sang along to the likes of Rumour Mill and Lights Out. Tay Jardine and co could be the next Paramore, which looks all the more likely after the set they played.

When Young Guns hit the stage, Shepherd’s Bush erupts. Kicking off with Dearly Departed, the boys had the crowd at their feet, Gustav Wood running around and commanding the stage in true frontman fashion; this band really have grown from their early days.

Touching various parts of their career, Young Guns treated the crowd to both new and old songs. Some of the highlights included Crystal Clear, You Are Not and Weight Of The World. Their current release’s first single, Learn My Lesson, had a slower, more moving opening to it than is heard on the record, before exploding in the second verse.

The set was closed by Broadfields, while the encore consisted of Bones and Winter Kiss in epileptic fashion. Young Guns finished their UK tour in style, before heading to mainland Europe. They promised that their next record would be better than the last two. If it’s as good as the show we saw here tonight, than we have plenty to look forward to.
