From the makers of the award winning 2000trees Festival, a new summer music festival is coming to a field near Bristol from the 29th-31st August 2013.
The 5,000 capacity ArcTanGent aims to replicate the sell out success of 2000trees by becoming Bristol’s must visit festival and will provide an alternative to the more commercial indie, pop and dance orientated festivals in and around the city.
Says co-founder James Scarlett: “with ArcTanGent we wanted to take the festival template we’ve laid down with 2000trees and have more leftfield, experimental and post-rock orientated bands. To give you an idea of where we are coming from, our ideal headliners would be Mogwai, Mike Patton and the Mars Volta; although we have recently given serious consideration to blowing our entire budget on booking Nickelback or U2 just so we can set them on fire!”
James continued: “we’ve really found that Bristolians are crying out for something like this and they’ve been flooding our Facebook site with band suggestions ranging from up and coming local acts to potential headliners. People should definitely let us know who they want to see because we really do listen!”
Fellow 2000trees and ArcTanGent organiser Simon Maltas added that: “We feel that festival goers really love the intimacy and relaxed nature of small, independent festivals like ArcTanGent – everything is in easy walking distance and there are no queues! If you lose your mates, you either make new ones or simply wait to bump into them again.”
The first line up announcement will be made in mid-January, but for now the organisers are putting Early Bird tickets on sale at the reduced price of £49 to anyone signed up to their facebook page or mailing list. Third and final ArcTanGent organiser Goc O’Callaghan said: “we’ve done the research and we are undoubtedly the best priced festival out there. You’ll get two nights camping, four stages, over 70 bands & DJs and the best local food & drink we can find. It’s definitely great value!”
