If you missed out on seeing your favourite artist play live, or refuse to pay through the nose for a ticket on one of those marketplace websites (you know the ones), then you’re in luck.
Whether you want to experience the upcoming Justin Bieber concert, The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Concerts at London’s O2 on 25 and 29 November, Madonna’s MDNA tour of South America throughout December, or Morrissey’s tour of North America in early 2013, a new app has been launched which uses the power of social media to give fans all the excitement of a front row seat at your favourite gig, from the palm of your hand.
Described by TechCrunch as “Awesome” and CNN as “Very cool!” Banjo is a location-based search and social discovery platform that allows you to search and explore any gig in the world through fans that are there right now.
Banjo’s ‘Personalised Places’ feature allows fans to search any gig taking place around the world in real-time – so if you want a virtual front row seat at the upcoming The Darkness, Girls Aloud or Lana Del Ray gig, simply run an artist search on the evening of the show and you will start to receive a live feed of the latest posts, pictures and videos in real-time.
Rather than following a hashtag on Twitter or Instagram, or navigating through multiple Facebook feeds, Banjo works by organising the most popular social networks and channels into one location based feed. The app prioritises content from your friends but also, for the first time ever, surfaces the common connections people share across the social graph. As such it is the only app that provides an on-the-ground view of what’s happening at gigs through the social lens of fans actually there right now, in a real-time and personalised way.
Chris Seth, Executive Vice President of Banjo said: “Banjo’s unique and powerful technology means that fans never have to miss out again on a gig by an artist they care about. The app offers fans the chance to feel like a VIP and experience all the excitement of a front row seat at their favourite gig, from the palm of your hand.”
