Leicester singer / songwriter Jersey Budd and Sven's Blue Army have recorded his own special version of the Leicester City Football Club terrace anthem ‘When You’re Smiling’ first made famous by Lois Armstrong. The track was recorded at Kasabian's studio and features all the players.
The player’s and Sven's favourite Jersey, performed the song “live” at the club's recent friendly against Real Madrid. Kaka left with the track after asking for Jersey's CD whilst Jose Mourinho invited Jersey to a Real Madrid game this season.
The digital download is available now (iTunes) and the physical CD release has recently been release (August 12th), and will include majestic coming-of-age anthem ‘She Came Back’ which features Tom Meighan of Kasabian.
The CD will be available from the LCFC club shop, HMV, as well as, one of the few remaining independent record shops in Leicester, Rock-a-Boom.
ALL proceeds from the release will go to charity.
Jersey says “Its an absolute honour to be releasing When You’re Smiling. As a massive Leicester City fan it’s a dream come true. To have Sven and the boys backing it is incredible too. Hopefully it will raise a massive amount for the charity and act as a catalyst to get our club back where we belong, The Premier League”
That’s not all. On October 22nd, at The Auditorium in Leicester, Jersey and the band will be debuting new material from the second album (and ‘When You’re Smiling’, of course). It’ll be Jersey’s first full band show for well over a year and, armed with an array of timeless new songs, it’s set to one hell of a night. Tickets are sale now and cost £8 from link or Rock-a-Boom.
