Turin Brakes are to tour their Mercury-nominated, platinum selling debut album The Optimist ten years on from its release, it has been announced.
In 2001, Turin Brakes captured a certain moment with their debut, featuring songs such as “Underdog (Save Me)” and “Emergency 72”.
‘We have never duplicated the sound of that first record,’ says Gale from the band. ‘It’s an iconic album. We’ve since made records that have been just as good, but that one captured some sort of zeitgeist. On the surface it was melancholy, but underneath it was hopeful. That’s why we called it The Optimist.’
The band are to play twelve shows across the UK, kicking off on November 7th in Cambridge, and finishing off on November 24th in Sheffield. More information can be found by following this link.
