The Bottletop Band – made up of (amongst others) Carl Barat, Gruff Rhys and Matt Helders – are releasing their second single “One In A Million” on June 27th.
The single features Eliza Doolittle on vocals, and preempts the release of The Bottletop Band's debut album Dream Service, release August 8th.
Bottletop was created by Cameron Saul (son of Mulberry founder Roger Saul), and came to prominence with the Mulberry Bottletop bag collaboration (link) which created ethical employment in Salvador and Brazil, and garnered fans including Kate Moss, Rachel Weiz and Annie Lennox. David Bailey also joined the project to shoot a photo campaign featuring Saffron Burrows, Emilia Fox and Bob Geldof.
Bottletop is now adding a transatlantic musical supergroup to it's existing fashion credentials. The Bottletop Band is a collaboration between British artists (incl Eliza Doolittle, VV Brown, Carl Barat, The Noisettes) and Brazilian musicians to benefit the Bottletop charity. Debut album 'The Dream Service' is the result of studio sessions initially recorded in Soho under the helm of producer Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream), then sent to Rio De Janeiro for contributions from local musicians and the final mix by Mario C (Beastie Boys).
