Black Eyed Peas' Not So Super Bowl

This weekend saw the biggest event in the NFL’s calendar, the Super Bowl. The Green Bay Packers took on the Pittsburgh Steelers and as usual it was the musical accompaniment to this spectacular that stole the headlines. Christina Aguilera crumbled under the pressure during the pre-game ceremony and fluffed the words to the national anthem. Tut tut Christina!!

Black Eyed Peas have also been slated for their half time performance and it has been suggested that Usher’s short appearance should really have been made into the headline performance. It is apparent that they suffered a lot of technical glitches throughout their routine but is that really all thee is to blame? Fergie almost found a key at one point during “Sweet Child Of Mine” but not quite.

A writer from the Los Angeles Times said “Regarding the music … was being three-sheets-to-the-wind drunk a requirement to enjoy this Super Bowl halftime show? Are the folks who said it's still cool to like the Black Eyed Peas eating their words? Do you sympathize with the not-an-old-fart-at-all editor, who sent me a frantic note about that ‘horrific caterwauling, by Fergie,' proclaiming her ears had been violated?” It’s appearances like this that can cost you a career!

To be fair though, this isn’t the first time a Super Bowl half time performance has taken a bashing. Back in 2004 Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson got broadcaster CBS TV in a heap of trouble because of a “wardrobe malfunction” resulting in a fine of $550,000. Seeing Jackson’s right boob was a lot less traumatising than last night’s show in my opinion.

Anyway, there’s loads of brilliant and not at all traumatising stuff on the site this week. We have interviews with Mike Marlin, Kyla La Grange, Jim Noir and Glass Heads. We have videos from Punks Jump Up and Innerpartysystem, a video blog from Diddy-Dirty Money and McFly being waxed! We’re also giving away tickets to see Kele at Chibuku, Roundhouse Rising festival and NME Shockwaves tour tickets as well as Jeff Beck cds. If you fancy getting out and about Mike Dignam, Don Broco, Let Loose and Judy Collins are all on tour.
