‘Rockney’ duo Chas ‘n’ Dave announce a third date to their run of final tour shows at London’s Indig02. They’ve now added Monday 18th April, in addition to 10th & 11th March 2011.
There aren’t many recording artists that can claim to have double-handedly pioneered their own unique genre of music, but London duo Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock definitely tick that box.
Since forming in 1972, Chas ‘n’ Dave brought a new type of music to the charts known as ‘Rockney’ – a merge of pub sing-a-long, music-hall humour, boogie-woogie and pre-Beatles rock ‘n’ roll.
Together their career spans almost 40 years. In 2005 they played Glastonbury festival and bands such as The Libertines have cited the duo as musical influences. With a string of hit singles under their belts, including their number one hit ‘Ain’t No Pleasing You’, as well as ‘Gertcha’ and ‘Rabbit’ to name but a few, Chas ‘n’ Dave firmly established themselves as an iconic and unique British act with a dedicated cult following.
The duo split in 2009, but announced plans to reunite for a final UK tour earlier this year. Dave Peacock has come out of retirement for The Final Tour – the entire history of Chas and Dave, taking in over 40 dates across the country. It will be an evening full of memories, including Chas ‘n’ Dave's pub set, the start of their success, followed by their subsequent hits. Support for the Indig02 dates comes from London four-piece Buster Shuffle, providing a compelling mix of cockney ska and rock ’n’ roll combined with catchy feel-good songs.
Chas Hodges commented: “It’s incredible to think that it was nearly 40 years ago that we got together as a duo. We are going to try to recreate the milestones of our career fromover the years in the shows. You're going get the lot at the Indig02, plus a few surprises. I hope everyone’s looking forward to the show as much as we are!”
Jan Chadwick, General Manager of Indig02, added: “We’re so pleased at the uptake for this event. Chas ‘n’ Dave are such a unique act and it’s great to give them the send off that they so deserve. It’s going to be a gig not to miss.”
