I was going to write about Andy Gray and Richard Keys getting into trouble for being sexist when it came to their remarks about the female assistant referee at the Liverpool match at the weekend.
Then I remembered that I’m a typical girl and don’t really care about football or the men that talk about it for a living. I do however, have female friends that care a lot about football, they have season tickets, they play it (for actual teams, some of them) and I guess because of this I know more about the game than I’d really care to, but I would like to point out, the offside rule really isn’t that difficult to understand and us girls do get it… ok?
Alright, so it appears I have decided to follow my original train of thought and stand up for girls. Who’d have thought it eh? It just appears to me that they’re a couple of old men that can’t handle the fact that girls are creeping in to what used to be very much “boys only” territory. What does it matter? Did she do a bad job? Would a man have done a better job? Mike Riley from Professional Game Match Officials issued a statement saying “All PGMO referees and assistant referees are appointed on merit and ability. They are assessed on their performances only.” Too right too, shouldn’t it be that way in every job? Not just football? I mean would this site be better if the editor was male? Don't answer that!
Anyway, enough ranting from me for today, on with the good stuff… on the site this week we have interviews with Glassheads, Squeeze, Ricky Warwick and Jason Lytle. We have videos from Mona, Ironik, Napoleon IIIrd and a clip from Justin Bieber’s upcoming movie, Never Say Never. You can also win signed Innerpartysystem artwork. If that wasn’t enough you can get out and about because Gin Panic, Chelcee Grimes, Don Broco and Judy Collins are all hitting the tour trail!
