Lets Have No More Vincents!

The people at Soul Jazz Records do a good job for the rest of us: they rescue music which would otherwise be lost.

However, there is still a lot slipping through the net. Even with the coming of personal computers, the internet and other resources to help music live on, though the artist(s) may be dead, many go unrecognised for their efforts. Myspace, Facebook and various other sites allow for artists connect to their fans (and vice versa) and so it is pretty easy to hear all the latest news.

Take the story of Oasis. A band of Mancunians who hit the big time because they were in the right place at the right time – some say fate, but more likely a good sound for the time and Alan McGee wanting another drink before heading back to London, so luck plays its part too.

Having been looking looking for the artist who created 'Doom (I'm The Doc)', an old school hip-hop track, now only available on Youtube it is impossible to find out the real creator. Rumour has it that, it was Kool Keith under one of his many alias'. Doing some further research in to the matter, it is apparently the KRO and the House Band. The problem is though, there is no band website for the latter and so it is not possible to call it theirs for certain.

It is a shame and goes to that some great music never makes it, just because the artists could not get publicity or the plays on the radio. It is not a case of “they do not sell records or tickets, ergo they are not good enough”, Vincent Van Gogh barely sold a painting in his all too short life.

Still, if anyone out there knows anything about KRO and the House Band of the Apocalypse, then let me know. Someone should tell their story, before it is too late.
