So, the best part of The X Factor came to an end last night, the auditions. I usually find myself looking at some of the really terrible ones wondering if they are only doing it for a laugh or if the really are THAT deluded, most of the time I just can’t figure it out.
My cousin and I decided a few years ago that we were going to give it a go, purely to take the Mickey as neither of us can carry a tune in a bucket, but changed our minds as, what’s the point if you can’t guarantee any airtime. Plus, I’m not that great at bursting in to tears on demand so I couldn’t even secure myself a cuddle from Dermot!
There are always some auditions that stick in your mind though… usually for the wrong reasons. My favourites this year were S&G that sang “Don’t Stop Believing” really badly accompanied by some dodgy shapes being thrown by “G” and of course Ablisa and their obnoxious attitude and awful audition that was rounded off by a punch in the face! I’m sure Cheryl was pleased she managed to see that one before she fell ill.
Next week it’s the boot camp stage before all the lucky ones get to jet off to far flung locations and the judges’ houses. It all gets a bit boring from here on in really… but you know what it really means… 95 days until Christmas!!!
So, now I’ve depressed you thoroughly here’s what will cheer you up on the site this week! We have interviews with Republica, The Saw Doctors and Philadelphia Grand Jury. We have new videos from We Are Scientists, Zola Jesus and Lauren Pritchard. Plus, competitions to win a We are Scientists T-shirt, tickets to the NME Weekender and the Mobo Tour. As if all that wasn’t enough, Ricky Warwick, The Strange Death Of Liberal England and The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster are all on tour!
