Happy Mondays Star Bez Has Been Jailed

The former Happy Mondays star has been given a four week sentence for assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

He was initially given a community service order during an appearance at Manchester Magistrates Court but refused to do it.

Instead Bez, real name Mark Berry has been jailed.

The court had heard how Berry attempted to strangle Monica Ward after he accused her of stealing money.

He has also been given a restraining order which prevents him from contacting Ward for two years.
