All American tight-jeans wavy haired heroes Black Lips have launched themselves onto the music scene and have grabbed critics’ attention with impossible ease upon releasing blues influenced pop-rock masterpiece ‘Short Fuse’; the lead up single for their record ‘200 Million Thousand’. Underneath the layers of hype and dollops of expectation, you might be surprised to find that Short Fuse is just your regular 3 minute pop-rock song with a catchy chorus, although what makes this track extra special is that it ticks all of the right boxes for a potential big hit. Image? Check. Chorus? Check. Authentic Americana feel? Check. I could go on…
Although not the most exciting; or certainly original, record to ever be made, Short Fuse just seems to possess some raw, honest quality about it that you just know will appeal to the masses and even has great potential to be used in advertising, as it wouldn’t sound out of place on an iTunes or mobile phone ad to be specific.
Get into this song now if it sounds like it might float your boat, because if the inevitable happens, you will be sick of it within six months.
