While much has been said about 2009’s crop of female synth fuelled vixens, lest we forget that last year Modular’s Ladyhawke released one of the most cruelly underrated albums of the year. However after blagging the support slot with the Ting Tings and scoring a Top 40 hit with “My Delirium”, what better time to re-release one of the stand out tracks from her debut.
Paris Is Burning jumps out of your speakers with a bass-line that instantly grabs your attention, which is then perfectly coupled with Purple Rain era Prince guitars and keyboards borrowed from the Human League. Ladyhawke clearly has a knack for a killer chorus and Paris Is Burning is no different. This should inspire the kind of crazed dance moves that haven’t been seen since The Breakfast Club.
