Yves Klein Blue – Draw Attention To Themselves

Six wonderfully crafted songs of chaotic bliss, tender melancholy and catchy hooks, what more could you wish for on a debut E.P?

‘Draw Attention To Themselves’, the quite aptly named debut release from the aussie alt-
Rockers ‘Yves Klein Blue’ is a wonderful no nonsense approach and full blown assault on the ears, demonstrating a vast array of musical influence and direction. Their only downfall is that it may be a bit of a mish-mash of ideas, but if they can learn to pinpoint their ideas and create a more direct sound in time for their debut album, then they could well become the most popular thing from ‘down under’ since kylie’s behind.

Songs like ‘Polka’ and ‘Blasphemy’ are cheeky and cocksure indie classics that are sure to please the ears of those partial to a staggered boogie down the local indie club. YKB also demonstrate their more tender nature with the slower number ‘19’, which shows the band are more than a one trick pony and capable of pulling the heart strings as well as getting you to shake your hips.

All in all a very promising introduction, a well rounded, polished and eccentric EP that I’m sure many critics will take a vetted interest in.
