Sukilove – Natural Regression

This Belgian Band bring together the likes of Bowie, the Cure and Butthole in their Natural Regression masterpiece.

It’s difficult to assign a genre, itunes calls it unclassifiable and the variation of instruments and vocal tricks its easy to see why. The first track rings with chimes, and is a downbeat, moody track, but it almost seems a bit sarcastic, as if its more tongue-in-cheek. The middle tracks are more upbeat psychedelic, and although still rife with a dark underline, the guitars are happy, almost spooky and the bassline melancholic. The last track is a live track, which could easily be the soundtrack to a haunted house ride, and seems almost as mocking as the first track.

This EP is excellent, if a bit weird, but that’s what makes it different and real at the same time.
