I love the start of this track, although if I didn’t know who it was I wouldn’t have said The Feeling. This track seems to be on a totally different tack to anything they have produced and released before. Although the methodology behind the track is the same as their earlier material – catchy chorus, simple lyrics, repetitive yet enjoyable, the style is very different.
It feels like Ciaran Jeremiah (on keyboards) has been given an entirely new box of tricks to play with, there is lots more synth used very effectively, and it is paired wonderfully well with Dan Gillespie’s vocals.
The only thing I don’t quite understand – and this is possibly quite integral – is what they are aiming for. It is pop? Is it indie? Is it dance? Unfortunately The Feeling have tried to create a track that spans many genres, and got it a little bit wrong, by not giving it any strong characteristics from any of the above choices.
Better luck next time boys!
