AUDIOSCOPE03 is the third annual all-day music event dedicated to raising money for Shelter, the national organisation working to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people. With the official backing of the charity and national radio and press coverage, last year's event raised £2,700. AUDIOSCOPE03 promises to be even bigger and better, showcasing the best leftfield and underground talent from across the UK, with a lineup diverse enough to offer something for everyone.
This year's headliners are Nottingham's wonderful SIX BY SEVEN, who, with three fantastic albums behind them, will be promoting their new single. Main support comes from leftfield Brighton quartet ELECTRELANE, fresh from recording in Chicago with Steve Albini. AUDIOSCOPE is also proud to present a rare Oxford performance from veteran lo-fi indie innovators COMET GAIN, in what should be another highlight.
Eclectic electronica maverick MAX TUNDRA will be taking the day's music down a very different path, and the rest of the lineup is just as strong, promising music of the very highest standard from start to finish. Closer to home, there will be performances from local heroes THE YOUNG KNIVES, THE EDMUND FITZGERALD, a astonishingly talented band in the light of their still-tender years, and Kraftwerk-remixed-by-Shellac electronica from SUNNYVALE NOISE SUB-ELEMENT. And to cap it all off, how about two of the most exciting live bands in Britain? Witness Glasgow's leather-clad Birthday Party-meets-Tori Amos art terrorists LAPSUS LINGUAE, and west Wales' JARCREW, who have recently signed to Gut Records on the back of astonishing live shows supporting the likes of Alec Empire and Electric Six.
