Polyphonic Spree – Night and Day

The Polyphonic Spree return with a new single and a UK tour. The single, Light and Day, released on the 10th February is a re-recorded version of the track featured on the band’s critically acclaimed debut LP, The Beginning Stages Of, already featured in the Best of lists for 2002 in Q, Mojo Uncut, The Face, iD and Jockey Slut.

Across the formats, the release will feature new song, March, in addition to remixes from The Bees (Light and Day) and Stereolab (Soldier Girl) and Have A Day and Days Like These Keep Me Warm live from Shepherds Bush Empire in October of this year. Further format details will be available soon.

The Polyphonic Spree were unheard of in the UK until their first live appearance in June at the Royal Festival Hall. Following that appearance, the band became one of the most talked about of the year, with further sell out club shows in London and stunning festival perfomances at T in the Park, Wittnness and Reading and Leeds Festivals. Their debut UK tour in October sold out and culminated in a rapturously received London show at the Shepherds Bush Empire where Noel Gallagher watched on before making a point of meeting each band member after the show. To cap an amazing six months, the band remixed Death in Vegas’ Scorpio Rising featuring Liam Gallagher on vocal duties for an end of year release.

Now firmly established as one of the bands to watch in 2003, the Polyphonic Spree undertake their second UK tour in the company of The Datsuns, Interpol and The Thrills as part of the NME Carling Awards tour in addition to supporting Supergrass at Wembley Arena in the New Year.
