TBA Records Launch

A new initiative – TBA Records – the record label side of the National Music Network (NMN) is to be launched onto the UK music scene on May 19th, featuring 20 of the UK's top unsigned bands, with all profits going back into developing new bands.

The recording “Top 20 UK Unsigned” will be sold through Virgin Megastore and the timing is set to coincide with the six-week-long Underground Sound Festival II which started on May 1st and will see the 20 featured bands plus scores of other talented artists take part in more than 70 events across the UK including gigs, tours, demo reviews and workshops.

The CD will be available at £5.99 through Virgin Megastore and Virgin is supporting the initiative by arranging instore appearances for these bands and the CD will be featured on their listening posts.

The Festival will also be broadcast on The Storm radio link whilst the overall most worthy band will win a recording session at the prestigious Miloco Studios (where Oasis recorded “What's the story…” album. Other partners include Drowned in Sound.com e-zine, EmmNet (Arts Council East Midlands Music Network), sound system manufacturers Carlsbro, Glasswerk Media (link) and band management company Secretion.

Adding its weight to the initiative, a spokesman for Virgin said: “Virgin Megastore continues to support new music via its involvement in this campaign to promote unsigned bands. We wish all the bands involved the best of luck for the future.”
