The Return of Killing Joke

“It's not about reclaiming our throne. Anyone who knows music knows who's who. We just know that the time is right for Killing Joke again. And we're ready.”
Jaz Coleman, 2003

Cited as one of the most influential bands of the last twenty years KILLING JOKE return with a brand new single 'Loose Cannon', released on Monday July 14th on Zuma Recordings. Featuring the original line-up of Jaz Coleman (vocals and keyboards), Geordie (guitar) and Youth (bass) the band have been joined on drums by longtime fan Dave Grohl. Coleman and Grohl met for the first time earlier this year in Auckland (New Zealand), where the Foo Fighters where playing the ‘Big Day Out’.

With a long time mutual respect for one another Coleman / Grohl decided to hook up, resulting in Coleman joining them on stage at a secret gig for a version of Requiem followed by a now legendary escapade around downtown Auckland.

'Loose Cannon' is the first single to be taken from their forthcoming eponymously titled new album due for release on Monday July 28th. Grohl originally scheduled to play on three new songs, loved the album so much decided to play on it's entirety, the results are awesome. A perfect addition to an already remarkable album.

This KILLING JOKE album, nine years since the last, will appeal to classic ‘Joke’ fans, but will also tap into the zeitgeist of an under nourished youth looking for a musical and lyrical intensity that can only be offered by a classic post punk band like KILLING JOKE. Across ten searing tracks this album shows why KILLING JOKE are still as influential and relevant as the day they started. The album was recorded in London and L.A.'s Grandmaster Studio's earlier this year and was produced by Gang Of Four's Andy Gill.

KILLING JOKE will be playing a secret London gig early this summer as well as the V003 festival. More dates will be announced soon.
