Mzwakhe Mbuli is South Africa's beloved “People's Poet” and musician. Whilst attempting to expose police involvement in drug corruption in 1997, he was framed for a robbery he did not commit. For more info, check out link. He is finally being released on parole on 28th November so we'll be celebrating; he needs cash to fight for a presidential pardon (to clear his name & enable him to travel) so we'll be contributing; through his art he's an international leader in struggles for justice, so we'll be travelling with him.

Africa Oye brought Mzwakhe to Liverpool twice in the 90s – we want to see him back here!

Three years ago The Picket hosted a blinder of a night for Mzwakhe – it was a sell-out, the poetry inspired, the music rocked & the DJ grooved. Get your ticket early & be where the cultures of Africa & Liverpool collide.

City of Culture? You ain't seen nothin yet!
