Johnny Truant to Record Second Album

Brighton metallers Johnny Truant have confirmed that they will record their second album with Killswitch Engage axeman Adam Dutkiewicz at the production helm.

The pact was made last year when both Johnny Truant and Killswitch Engage played at the Kerrang! Weekender at Camber Sands last year.

Now recording is set to take place at Metway Studios in Brighton (owned by The Levellers) at the end of March.

Adam D had this to say: “Get ready for an aural assault. a riffing frenzy that will give you hot diarrhoea for a week. Like an iron-ore enema, Johnny and his truants will sodomize you with metal…BOOM! “

The second – as yet untitled album – is the follow up to 02 debut 'The Repercussions Of A Badly Planned Suicide' – which was mixed by Joe Gibb (Million Dead, Funeral For A Friend) and featured artwork by Aaron Turner (Isis, Hydra Head). Since the release – which received critical acclaim in the rock press – Johnny Truant have toured and played shows with Isis, Raging Speedhorn, SikTH, Amen, The Hope Conspiracy, Napalm Death, 27, and Stone Sour.

Lead vocalist Olly Mitchell said: “So far titles include 'A Day In The Death', 'The Bloodening', 'Dirty Vampire Feeding Frenzy'. The record surrounds itself with everything people don't tend to talk about in the UK “scene”. Blood, sex, prostitution… we wanted to challenge ourselves to write about different subjects! We just want to project the things people don't ever want to talk about but disguise them with our music. It seems people are expecting some stereotypical clique metalcore record out of us – unfortunately they're not going to get it! They are going to get something they'd be to scared to take back!”

Expect a release on Undergroove Records later in 04. The band play a local show at Brighton Freebutt on March 7 with Jacob's Stories and Aped Bi Sapien… More news at: link
