Sheffield, musically, is currently enjoying one of its healthiest periods for years and one of the best ways of gauging the strength of the scene at its grassroots level is the bi-annual Grapesfest. Twenty bands and solo artists battle it out over two days against the twin charms of extreme sunshine (possibly) and a Bar B Q manned by the thinking fellow's Oliver Reed, Tufty. At just £3 a day it's an comprehensive and cheap glimpse of Sheffield live music with rock, pop, indie, ska, metal, chilled beats and Sheffield's own eccentric style of singer/ songwriter all represented over the two days.
