Vinny Peculiar Is Back

Frat Party Promotions in conjunction with The Carling Academy Liverpool proudly announces the first Liverpool gig for the new band formed by Andy Rourke & Mike Joyce of The Smiths. Saturday 18th September @ Carling Academy, Liverpool.

THE VINNY PECULIAR BAND:
Dripping with camp bravado and backed by the finest rhythm section this side of heaven – Manchester’s finest glam-pop front man is going back on tour. With performances guaranteed to burst with effervescence, vitality and council flat cabaret, Vinny Peculiar is back!
In February 2004 Vinny Peculiar was introduced to Mancunian legends Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke via Kitchen Sink Disco promoter and S&D affiliate Ben Cooke. The former Smiths subsequently join the band and play a sell out debut gig in Belfast on May 5th 2004 as part of The Cathedral Quarter Arts festival [where Vinny is Artist in Residence]. They started recording a new Vinny Peculiar album in the summer with live dates to follow. Vinny is a huge Smiths fan and looks forward with great excitement to working with one of the finest rhythm sections ever!
Support comes from Iconoclast, quite simply Liverpool's biggest unsigned band, surely not for much longer, no-one can ignore the size of the crowd these guys pull for much longer, just expect more early 80's Liverpool inspired street rock mixed with a healthy dash of classic rock. First up are Lovecraft, local band with much record industry interest, they can play as anything from a 4 piece to an 8 piece depending on the mood, they were even described by The Independent as one of the top 3 best young bands in Britain, high praise indeed & understandable when you think they are still led by a teenager!
