ADVENTURES CLOSE TO HOME

It’s over three months since the first ADVENTURES CLOSE TO HOME night rocked the Barfly to its foundations with a life-changing performance by The Futureheads (says drummer Dave Futurehead “That was the best gig we’ve ever played – I almost cried three times it was that good”). From that starry opening night it was clear the capital had a new party on the agenda.

ADVENTURE part 2 devastated the baying crowds with not only Death From Above 1979 playing live instruments on the stage but also Carlos D (Interpol) playing records on the record decks while people happily drank and danced.

Friday 8th October saw the third sold-out VENTURES installment, and chaos therefore ensued. Mr. Adam Green took to the stage and ate one special fungi at the end of each song. He had a good time later that night as did the rest of the crowd who danced quite a bit to Digital Hardcore’s unnerving Motormark.

Add to this the fast-becoming-revered DJ behemoths that are Ill Will and Choaf, and a properly smart crowd who are up for a bit of education (and we really truly love them, our crowd, they’re spot on) and our patented mix of post-cash pop, cheap electronics, punk disco and trendy music and if you’re lucky it = A D V E N T U R E S C L O S E T O H O M E.
