KEITH
The Moogs
Finka
Boy Called Roy
Friday 14th January 2005 @ Music Box, Manchester. £5, 8pm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fresh from playing the legendary Akoustik Anarkhy NYE house party with The Longcut and Loose Cannon, Keith play their first 'official' set of the year on 14th January at the Music Box. Like the aforementioned bands, Keith start the year as one of the bands tipped to make a big impression on 2005, making this headlining gig a must-see.
Forming in 2002 whilst studying in Manchester for a music production degree, Keith's sound can be described as groove-rock, incorporating elements of dub, folk, indie, soundscapes and dance music. Despite the workload that came with their studies, Keith augmented regular local gigs with dates around the country in places like London, Leeds and Liverpool, as well as venturing across the border for a highly successful Edinburgh date.
While Keith's influences are undeniably eclectic (ranging from DJ Shadow and Can to Elliott smith and The Beta Band), the loving way in which each element is incorporated into the overall sound, combined with the presence of a vocalist with a truly distinctive voice (“somewhere between Morrissey and Jeff Buckley” – Gigwise.com) has ensured the creation of a distinctive, Keith sound. The band's intense live gigs have also earned them critical plaudits as well as a passionately loyal fan-base.
Now graduated and freed from the shackles of study, the band are free to expand further on their fantastic progress over the last two years and devote themselves fully towards realizing their amazing potential.
