CLUB HEDONISTIC

clubHEDONISTIC showcases the best new bands from anywhere, for free each month. It returns this Friday 14th January at the Islington Bar Academy. Bigger, better, later and on a FRIDAY.

clubHEDONISTIC will feature Echelon, We Will Be Pilots, Hedon and a band who we'll announce on Thursday night. Rest assured they're set to be one of the hottest bands of 2005 with their debut single to be released shortly. Zane Lowe loves them and so will you. The night will be compered by VF's own John Bownas.

Club Seal (London's newest indie disco) then runs from 11-3am with everyone's favourite indie tunes (Pixies to Prince, Bon Jovi to Killers) spun by Ollie Russian, DiS editor Gareth Dobson and Charlie No.4. The whole thing is free. Do get there early. Do drink and do dance home carefully.

Carling Academy Islington, N1 Centre, 16 Parkfield Street, London N1 0PS. Tel: 020 7288 4400 Nearest tube – Angel (northern line).

clubHEDONISTIC is an independent non-profit making free night dedicated to showcasing the brightest new talent from everywhere. So far it's seen Ludes, The Boyfriends, Redjetson, 28 Costumes and luxembourg to name but a few. This month we welcome the kind support of Marshall. clubhedonistic.com has a fuller piece of propaganda on. Come and support the night, it's not like there's any other good gigs on this Friday.

THE BANDS

ECHELON
An Essex four-piece full of pent up technical brilliance and swooning
falsettos. Their recent Poptones single 'Plus' went down a treat with Lamacq and live they have tons of fantastic, spine-tingly moments. A band to make you stand back and go 'Wow, those guys really can PLAY!', Echelon have are one of the most dynamic bands around and possess a true beauty in what they do.
FOR THOSE WHO LIKE: Late-Radiohead with Chris Martin's voice, 'proper' musicians

HEDON
The London five-piece behind the night write dramatic, instantly beautiful
and occasionally quite massive tunes full of joyous hooks and poignant build ups. Dark like a bloodstained Interpol in an undercurrent of spinetingling hooks, melted within glorious soundscapes. Occasional time changes and rhythmic breaks make you dance strangely with the killer choruses making you sing like a Killers fan..
FOR THOSE WHO LIKE: A more-restrained Muse, The Only Ones, Strangelove, big choruses.

WE WILL BE PILOTS
They play short, sharp songs that shout about love, death and Cold War
politics. Taking a Zebedeeish approach to stagemanship they cram the entirety of one of John Peel's better Festive 50's into the vast majority of their songs – all the buzzsaws, thrift chic, fiercely flung drumming and mainlined adrenaline.
FOR THOSE WHO LIKE: Sonic Youth, Idlewild. Guided By Voices, The Thermals

The next clubHEDONISTIC is on Friday 11th February featuring Fleeing New York and a host of other great acts. Catch Club Seal every Friday at the Islington Bar Academy (except for the frist Friday of each month).
