The Complete Guide to David Thomas Broughton

David Thomas Broughton + The North Cross + Bandyleg
Mon 7th Feb @ Retro Bar, Sackville St, Manchester
£3 on the door

Leeds music scene fixture David Thomas Broughton plays a unique brand of avant-folk, looping guitars and vocals, adding the occasional drum machine to create a rich and beautiful atmosphere. Debut album “The Complete Guide to Insufficiency” is due out on Feb 1st on Birdwar Records.
“British entrant into the New Weird Americana movement brings some
freeform Animal Collective folk sounds to Leeds…An excellent start
for a new label.” 8/10 Americana-UK
“Layer upon layer of musical quality from Broughton, whose songs are
touching and sensitive” The Guardian

We also have intense, semi-improvised country-noir from The North
Cross, musically somewhere between Boxhead Ensemble and Songs: Ohia, topped with Daniel Mills' rich Buckner-esque baritone. Plus, moody,
atmospheric string-laden post-rock that wouldn't sound out of place on
Constellation Records from Bandyleg.
