Composer and saxophonist , Tim Garland brings his world-class quartet to The Pavilion Gardens Lounge, Buxton on Friday 25 February at 8.30pm. Featuring the astounding skills of guitarist Paul Bollenback, along with Gary Novak and John Patitucci, the quartet produce a varied pallet of sounds moving easily between blues, folk and jazz. This highlight of The 3rd Buxton Opera House Festival of Live Music: Four-Four Time 2005, which takes place from Friday 18 to Sunday 27 February, promises to be an electrifying and sophisticated experience.
Tim Garland is Composer-in-Residence at Newcastle University and one of the UK’s most renowned jazz saxophonists. He first made international waves through his work with Chick Corea and now works regularly with Bill Bruford’s Earthworks and Acoustic Triangle. Tim’s interests also go beyond conventional jazz. He regularly writes large ensemble and orchestral based pieces and with The International Quartet, has now branched out into an intriguing mix of folk and blues.
Tickets for The Tim Garland International Quartet are priced at £12 and concessions are available.
