From somewhere out there, powering through the static, snaking between the wavelengths, beaming out from the stereo comes, 'Tuned To A Different Station', the new single by DOGS. A plea from an underdog but one with teeth. Not a cower or a whine, 'Tuned To A Different Station' is the triumphant survivor's fist in the air, both musically and lyrically.
Hot on the heels of their Top 40 debut single 'She's Got A Reason', 'Tuned To A Different Station' is an altogether bigger beast. It has since it's earliest days, as a raucous demo, been the classic big gun in DOGS' mighty arsenal of songs. Already a live favorite, encouraging terrace chants and sending arms aloft 'Tuned…' is a song that could live forever.
Barely stopping, DOGS have spent recent months on the road : lately playing 28 shows in almost as many days plus their first outing Stateside, to SXSW in Austin, Texas.
DOGS' two SXSW shows included what was perhaps the shortest but probably amoung the most memorable of sets. The heavens opened up, it was raining cats but not on DOGS! Forced indoors, the band played a three song, supercharged performance whilst outside torrents of water gushed through the streets of Austin, inside industry taste makers shook the water from their heads and surrendered to twelve minutes of pure balls to the wall DOGS.
The set consisted solely of their first limited edition double A-side release 'London Bridge', 'End Of An Era' (dedicated to photographer and some time pirate of the caribbean Mick Rock) and culminated with the mighty 'Tuned To A Different Station'. Looked over by three larger than life portraits of forties' burlesque stars, one for each song, all there agreed it was the bollocks.
'Turn Against This Land' is the debut album by DOGS and will be released on 11th July 2005
