Automation & The Soho Dolls to give the Barfly some femme fuelled frollicks.
The focused and forceful mixed gender Liverpool based trio of Automation head to the Liverpool Barfly (Seel Street) 01/06/05, to fuel an evening of pulsating electro tinged rock. The sole male member; Chris Ward (vocals/bass) facilitates the Primal Scream for the new millennium feel to the band, he is excellently assisted by the futuristic and cruising synths along with the occasional vocals of Zoe Alex and the spikey guitars of Kai Sheen.
The set will undoubtedly feature the rock friendly previous single 'Hate Sound', as Automation seeks to cement their status as being a compact and compelling live band. This reputation has been earned via well lauded opening slots for the likes of Secret Machines, The Fiery Furnaces and Future Kings of Spain. This gig will help the band prove that there is diversity to the scouse scene, with them looking to substantiate the views of Chris about the local music scene;
“It's little like the mainstream music press describes, in my experience at least. Not everyone is sat around singing sea skiffle with their Uncle Kenny, smoking bad weed, thinking “music ended in 1969, la”. And those that are, the rest of us try and ignore. It's varied, but not enough for us to feel we fit in any way.”
Carrying on the buzz and glamour will be London temptress Maya Y, who’s provocative and piercing vocals forms the backbone of The Soho Dolls. Maya will be flanked by Ana (keys), Toni (guitar) and Gavin (bass), who will combine to make waves and open minds, especially now they have the confidence of being signed to strong indie label; Poptones. Their debut single the provocative ode to 'Prince Harry', made sure that this quirky quartet has a reputation for boldness and salaciousness. Look out for the piercingly rhythmic electro corker 'Trash the Rental' and the raunchy forthcoming single 'Stripper'. Tempted? You should be!
