Niels Children Are Always The Same

Neils Children release their third single ‘Always The Same’ on Poptones / Soft City on Monday 6th June. Their most tuneful blast of pop distortion yet, it comes in the wake of their rapturously received debut mini-album ‘Change/Return/Success’ which included their first two singles ‘Come Down’ and ‘I Hate Models’ and led Vice to describe them ‘as the new psychedelic white grime’, received an 8/10 from NME and prompted The Guardian to call the band ‘the natural heirs to The Libertines’.

Articulate, angry and fast amassing an army of famous fans – the band were personally invited by Bloc Party to play a recent live Xfm session – Neils Children’s wide-ranging musical and personal influences are more fully explored on their new single, taking in everything from the idiocy of rock’n’roll clichés (‘Stupid Band’) to Syd Barrett-esque psychedelia ( incredible acoustic odyssey ‘Run Before We Can Walk’ ). Their live performance remain must-be-seen exercises in auto-destruct rage and energy unseen since the early Manics.

“The anger and energy in our music comes from a love of what we’re doing” explains singer John Linger. “It doesn’t come from watching a punk video. We don’t want to be the next Sex Pistols and never have wanted to be. We’d be happier being the Zombies.
