Arguably the most original new band in Manchester, The Conversation’s subtle intelligent experimental rock has earned them acclaim and a rapidly growing fanbase alike. Though the band have the traditional 4 piece drums/bass/2 guitar setup, The Conversation’s sound is anything but conventional. It’s a sound that has drawn comparisons with Yo La Tengo, Tortoise and German legends Can, whose former frontman Damo Suzuki jammed with guitarist Denny at his recent solo Manchester gig. These comparisons are more in spirit than sound, as The Conversation have no obvious sonic influences. Their delicate, rhythmic, hypnotic tunes have a style of their own, with a melodic catchiness that broadens the band’s appeal beyond the post rock/experimental scene. With another eagerly awaited EP almost finished, this gig is the band’s biggest date since playing the Club NME tour at the Bierkeller back in April.

“There is hope for guitar music yet… They aren’t comparable, over the course of a live set or an EP, to anyone else. The Conversation are making atmospheric, affecting music, original pieces which push the boundaries, but which, crucially, have a lot of soul. 5/5” Ollie Wright- Drowned In Sound
