Dubbed “The best UK band I have seen in ten years” by Therapy?’s Andy Cairns, October File are comprised of four individuals with diverse and impressive musical pedigree. Drummer Ed Keric (ex- DC influenced hardcore outfit Yeast), guitarist Matt Lerwill (formally of angst rock band Schindler), vocalist Ben Hollyer (ex-heavy sloggers Jor) and bassist Steve Beatty formed the band around two years ago and upon the release of their debut “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People” EP in April last year were being described as a UK hardcore supergroup by an impressed music press. Earning comparisons to the likes of Killing Joke, Big Black and hardcore bands like Boy Sets Fire, October File have a sound rich in diversity and quality. Debut album “A Long Walk on a Short Pier” (Golf Records) followed late last year to further acclaim, the music press as impressed by the band’s lyrical depth as the already apparent musical quality. Following a successful tour for the album the band got busy writing the follow-up album. Titled “Onward Ever Backward” and due to be released later in the year the album is, in the band’s words, “very dark and very heavy”. With a tour with Amen scheduled later in the summer, October File look to continue their impressive rise up the UK hardcore ladder.

“… a breath of fresh air. Their taut angular riffs and deliberately muddy basslines don't strictly fall into either the emo or metalcore camps, but straddle the two equally well, while incorporating the art rock of Earthtone 9 (albeit in a punk stylee), promising stuff. 8/10 Metal Hammer
